 History of Jewish Family Service

Due to the current situation, our campus has closed its doors until further notice. Our staff is working remotely from home, while continuing to serve our mission through our various programs in any way we can.

Below are the latest updates from our agency:

  • Emergency Financial Assistance is available for anyone in the Jewish community who is affected financially by the virus outbreak. Our Assistance Coordinator's extension has been discontinued for the time being, as we try to manage the volume of calls in an organized manner. Our staff and group of volunteers are hard at work to make sure every request gets answered in a timely fashion, prioritizing those in crisis. If you have a request, please call the JFS MAIN LINE at 402-330-2024 during the allocated times (Monday to Thursday, 9am to noon) for us to be able to serve you. Your call will be directed to the right person who will be able to assist you.

  • Counseling services continue to be offered through our new "Virtual Counseling" program. Sessions are held via Zoom Video-communications, and are covered by most insurance carriers. You can attend your sessions using your smartphone or computer from home. Please call our office at 402-330-2024 to make an appointment.

  • Parenting classes for Spring 2020 are cancelled. If you had registered for this class, please call our office at 402-330-2024 to process a refund or to get your registration moved to the next available class (dates TBD).

  • We continue to offer Adoption Home Study services though secure video-conferencing. Call our office at 402-330-2024 to learn how.

  • ALL YACHAD ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS HAVE BEEN PUT ON HOLD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. For further information, please contact our Yachad Coordinator Joyce Ryan at (402) 670-1512,  jkryan2(at)gmail.com  or call the JFS office at 402-330-2024.

We are here for you! You can email us at info(at)jfsomaha.com

Providing support to the Omaha Jewish community

For more than a century, Jewish Family Service of Omaha has provided crucial aid and support to the community. Our mission as a human service agency is to strengthen and preserve life in the Jewish community and the community at large through every stage of the life cycle.

With the best professional and licensed staff, JFS is wholly focused on providing the services individuals, couples and families require when facing challenges in their lives. Financial assistance, counseling, Project Tzedakah, Project Dreidel and family life education; these are among the ways that JFS restores dignity, hope and meaning when it seems like life’s struggles appear insurmountable.
