Counseling

Probably the most well-known of JFS’s available services in Omaha is Counseling. Our Licensed Mental Health Practitioners represent a combined experience of over 60 years in the field of mental health. Each is prepared to meet the needs of individuals, couples, families and children. With a Certified Play Therapist and an Expressive Arts Therapist on staff, JFS is uniquely positioned to provide counseling to children in a way that meets them on their level and garners the trust that is essential to healing.

Counseling is provided to all clients regardless of religion, gender, ethnicity or ability to pay.

We accept most major insurance plans.

We are prepared to provide counseling by developing an individualized treatment plan in partnership with the client.

Cost of Services

Your first appointment is called a Diagnostic Interview Exam at a cost of $185.  This initial appointment will last one hour.

Depending on your course of treatment thereafter, counseling sessions will cost between $90 to $185.  Each session’s duration varies from 30-60 minutes in length.

(See specific costs for therapy sessions under Good Faith Estimate).  It is important to know which services are covered under your specific insurance plan, as plans vary.

JFS works with most insurance companies including Medicaid.  We also offer lower fees for those without insurance, called a Sliding Scale Fee.

To qualify for this reduced fee you will be required to show proof of income and proof of total household income.  In addition to income, the qualifying fee is also determined by the number of people living in the household.

You will be asked to present two recent paystubs and documentation of household income.

Please contact our office directly at (402) 330-2024 with all sliding scale fee inquiries.

Privacy is our top priority.  All client records and services rendered are protected in strict confidence and adheres to all HIPAA regulations.

Why Choose Jewish Family Service?

There are many counseling agencies in the Omaha area, but JFS is unique.

We have the luxury of delivering our services in ways not always measured by how clients pay for our time.

We make an extra effort to create a treatment environment that includes extensive communication with doctors, caseworkers, foster parents, school counselors and parents.

Our success is measured not by our reimbursement, but by a thoughtful collaboration that develops personalized treatment necessary for a client to improve.

Jewish Family Service is a family-centered agency and our goal is clear: we maintain our focus on the client and the family, not on the dollar.

We welcome you to experience what Jewish Family Service has to offer.
