Family Life Education and Enrichment

The relationship between parent and child can fuel the strongest bond or the most troublesome challenges. Strong families feed a strong community and helping families come together is part of our mission.

We subscribe to the parenting philosophy of Jim Fay and Dr. Foster Cline, developers of “Parenting the Love and Logic Way™”. These classes are offered to help support this goal and are taught by Licensed Mental Health Practitioners trained in the program and therapy practices specific to children and parents.

For further information on class philosophy, class dates, times, etc.  please contact Teresa Drelicharz at tdrelicharz@jfsomaha.com  or Karen Gustafson at kgustafson@jfsomaha.com or call JFS at 402-330-2024.

For more information on the Love and Logic Institute, Inc. please visit www.loveandlogic.com.

In addition to the parenting classes offered on the campus of the Jewish Community Center, JFS is available to work with your school or agency to bring "Parenting the Love and Logic Way™” class to your school or agency. Please contact JFS Director Karen Gustafson at kgustafson@jfsomaha.com for a written estimate of costs. Through a generous community donor we are able to provide a Matching Grant Program to assist any school or agency who wishes to provide this class.

At your request, through our licensed and experienced staff, JFS is equipped to design and present presentations/programs on a variety on mental health topics. Some of our most recent presentations have been:

  • Bullying Prevention
  • Mother/Daughter Workshop on How Girls Bully
  • Drug/Alcohol Education
  • Sex Education for Teens
  • Child Abuse recognition and reporting procedures
  • Guidance lessons, for ages 4-8
